the beauty of unknowns

You don't know what I feel
I don't know what you feel
and we're pretending like we're happy
when we're not.

As if,
we could ever be happy,
while we pine away for the one we love
who will never know anyway.

We're clinging onto each other
not because we love each other,
but because we aren't loved
by the one that truly matters.

We are united in our loss
but of course,
we don't even know
what the other is thinking.

But what's that saying?
'ignorance is bliss'
what we don't know,
can't hurt us, right?
